The sunrise on 2 October was very strange - it was shrouded by cloud thick enough to cause the sun to appear as a big disk, but not so thick as to obscure it. I was driving past Ochiltree (near Kingscavil & Ecclesmachan) in West Lothian when I noticed it.

I've played around with the processing - to give dark foregrounds, emphasizing the sun and lighter foregrounds to bring the trees out a bit.

I took 3 exposures of each view and selected the look I wanted from each.

Sadly, the vandals have been active.

I always think of the Barron Knights song - to the tune of "Matchstick men" - gives me a strange feeling!

With big rosettes and coloured scarves
They go to cheer their favourite stars
They all look forward to their Saturdays
There's one young lad walks down our street
With Bovver Boots upon his feet
And an aerosol can of paint he freely sprays
And he painted Grandad's Bike and next door's cats and dogs
He sprayed a couple on the corner of the street who were having a snog
He fell down on his can, and his aerosol went 'bang'
And all they found was an old flat cap and his clogs

There is a line of trees near the memorial, that have a pleasing look. Good that the paths have recently been replaced, it was getting a bit muddy, and it makes the dog poo more obvious, so it's easier to avoid!
