The Great Polish 3D map of Scotland. This was built between 1974 and 1979. It was built by Poles from the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland, led by the map’s main designer, Dr. Kazimierz Trafas. The map was the brainchild Jan Tomasik, a sergeant in the 1st (Polish) Armoured Division, who had been stationed in Galashiels and had married a Scottish nurse in 1942 after being treated in the town’s Peel Hospital.
Linlithgow - in the centre of the town there are several buildings now put to new use. Some of them were West Lothian Council premises - others were the Police Station & Courts.
